Last week, Austin’s music community lost one of its sons. Jon Pettis, a founding member of Bankrupt And The Borrowers, passed away due to smoke inhalation from fire in his home. Our hearts, prayers, and thoughts go out to Jon’s family and friends during this difficult time. Jon’s fiancée, along with his good friends and roommates, lost all of their possessions in the fire. The band is raising money to get everybody who was displaced back on their feet. If you would like to make a donation, please visit their website to make a contribution.

Every Betaplayer newsletter has a quote of some kind in the subject line. The last newsletter had the following:

This time, we offered a Betaplayer T-shirt as a prize to the first fan to tell us the origin of the quote. Maggie was the first person to correctly ID the quote as a line from the movie Blow (one of the illest movies…everrrr). Thanks to all that participated (even the guy that thought the quote was from Seinfeld), but there can only be one winner of the coveted Betaplayer T-shirt. Congrats, Maggie. The rest of you, keep your ojos peeled for more free stuff in the near future.
